Jean-Jacques Ngandu, also known as “J-J”, is a Rwandan-Canadian photographer, visual artist and entrepreneur living in Canada’s capital, Ottawa. His love for both sports and photography, can be seen throughout his work photographing sports events (especially basketball) around the city, with the Ottawa community housing events and other communities work. He’s also traveled to his birth country Rwanda to work on photography projects down there. Jean-Jacques conceptual work reflects all the pictures he has seen, books he has read, music he listens to and the people/places he loves. A simple deep conversation with someone can inspire him to get in the studio and make a new visual work. On top of owning his own photography business, he also started a podcast to raise social awareness and community building in the neighbourhood where he grew up, Britannia Woods, called ‘The House’.
